I haven't participated in the Before/After bloghop in a while because I was busy having a baby!! Yep, I now have a daughter and TWO precious boys to love on!
Here's our newest addition, Stellan:
Edited in Photoshop CS3, and because I'm a newbie to Photoshop, if anyone could explain why the photo looks grainy and how I could fix it, that would be great. :)

I'm not sure about the grainy stuff. What kind of camera do you have? It seems sometimes when my pics aren't totally in focus when I crop that may happen. Not sure how to fix it yet. I'm doing b&ws too. Love them!
Love the BW (and the original too)! Thanks for sharing!
aww, what a cutie!
It was probably from the camera, due to high ISO from the low lighting conditions. If you want to get rid of the grainy you could either run a smoothing action on just his skin (leave the rest of the shot grain/"textured") or soften the whole picture, it wouldn't be as sharp, but it'll be a lot less grainy. Just have to figure out which one you want more.
So beautiful, wonderful edit.
Precious! Gotta love a classic black and white.
I use a program called "Noiseware community edition" to denoise my photos when I have to have the ISO up higher than I would like.
It's a free program, and it's really really good!
Anyway, such a cute photo!
That face is so precious! I love the black and white!
did you adjust the exposure setting when you cropped and changed to black and white? Sometimes that will cause grain as well.
love love love his expression... your b&w edit looks great :)
